Apple’s iOS 19 update
may include an AI-powered feature designed to save iPhone battery life, according to Bloomberg. It will optimize the smartphone’s power consumption based on usage scenarios.
The new feature will use “battery health data collected from users’ devices to understand trends and predict when to reduce the power consumption of certain apps or features.”
Google launched a similar machine learning-powered feature on Android in 2018, and says it analyzes your phone usage patterns to determine which apps should be restricted from running in the background and which should be prioritized. Android settings can control how apps are allowed to run in the background to check for updated data and notifications.
iOS 19 will also introduce an indicator on the lock screen that shows how long it will take to fully charge your phone. As Bloomberg reports, Apple is rolling out AI-powered battery management for the upcoming iPhone 17, which is rumored to be the company’s thinnest smartphone to date. That means it will have a smaller battery. However, the battery management tool will be available for all iPhones running iOS 19, not just the iPhone 17.
iOS 19 is also rumored to receive a broader redesign. Apple will likely introduce the update to developers during WWDC in June, and then release it to the public in September.
It was previously reported that Apple plans to further reduce the gap between iPad, iPhone, and Mac with the release of iPadOS 19 and iOS 19. Thus, when connecting the Magic Keyboard to the iPad, a menu bar will be displayed, like in MacOS. Thus, Apple tablets will become more like laptops. Support for external displays will be deployed in iOS 19, but only for iPhones with a USB-C port. The option will offer an interface similar to Stage Manager.
