- GitHub has released a preview of an AI agent for GitHub Copilot, which is built into the platform and will start working as soon as the user sets a task. After that, the agent will add a reaction in the form of an “eye” emoji and run in the background.
- Its actions can be tracked in the change history. According to the company, the agent handles “low-to-medium complexity” tasks, from adding features and fixing bugs to refactoring code and improving documentation.
- After completing the work, the user can leave comments. The agent will automatically evaluate them and suggest code changes.
- The agent is available to Copilot Enterprise and Copilot Pro+ subscribers.
- In May 2025, OpenAI unveiled its AI programming agent . The agent, called Codex, runs autonomously in the cloud and can connect to a user’s GitHub account.
